Day 0025: Journaling in 2025
Journaling has always been a favorite hobby of mine and one that I’ve kept up with pretty consistently since I was little. One of my favorite journaling memories is going through my pink Hello Kitty notebook from 2007 - expecting to find snippets of my thoughts as I become an older sister for the first time - only to discover pages and pages of “Bubbles ate a lot today, he is very fat.” Apparently my 9 year old self was less preoccupied with her new sibling and more interested in documenting the daily eating habits of a blue beta fish. While my style of journaling has certainly changed over the years, it’s remain a part of my everyday routine and a way to capture snippets of my life onto paper.

I’ve been slowly setting up my journals for 2025 throughout December and in the process has rekindled a little spark for the hobby that I’ve kind of lost this past year. While I have still been filling out my journals in 2024, there’s a distinct lack of creativity and excitement that made the process feel more like a chore than a relaxing pastime. Luckily (and hopefully), it seems to be a passing sentiment because I genuinely found so much joy whilst setting up the various spreads in my reading journal and getting my personal journal all ready for January.
I don’t anticipate really changing much about my journaling process and will still be primarily keeping everything within two separate notebooks: one for reading and one for my daily recaps and memo-keeping. I do want to try out braindump journaling more consistently as I tried to do that a bit more in 2024 and mainly used it to vent but I think it would be a nice habit maybe biweekly or monthly to just check in and get all my thoughts down on a page.
I’m also hoping to turn this space into a digital journal of sorts and try to do a better job at documenting little pieces of my life. Not quite sure what that looks like exactly, but I’m definitely looking to curate a space that feels like an online diary for myself as an extension of my book blog and other social media platforms - a space that feels a little less perfected and a little more authentic if you will.
Until next time,
